Performance evaluation of a wiener model predictive control for a coagulation chemical dosing unit in water treatment plants

چکیده
Coagulation process control is an essential operation in water treatment plants. It is a challenging control problem due to the nonlinear and physicochemical nature of the coagulation process. The paper presents the application of the Wiener model predictive control (WMPC) algorithm to a coagulation chemical dosing unit for water treatment plants in order to keep the surface charge and pH level of the dosed water at the reference trajectory set by the operator of the plant. Wiener models with di¤erent nonlinear estimators are compared and evaluated. A Wiener model with a wavelet network estimator presented the highest goodness of t (98%), and was thus selected as the best prediction model. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy has good set-point tracking, as well as noise and disturbance rejection performances.

متن کاملFuzzy dynamic modelling and predictive control of a coagulation chemical dosing unit for water treatment plants
In this paper, a fuzzy model predictive control (FMPC) strategy is proposed to regulate the output variables of a coagulation hemical dosing unit. A multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) process model in form of a linearised Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy odel is derived. The process model is obtained through subtractive clustering from the plant’s data set. The MIMO model is escribed by a set of c...
متن کاملModelling of a coagulation chemical dosing unit for water treatment plants using fuzzy inference system ?
In this study, adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was applied to estimate the parameters of a coagulation chemical dosing unit for water treatment plants. The dosing unit has three input variables (sudfloc 3835, ferric chloride and hydrated lime flow rates) and two output variables (surface charge and pH values). The ANFIS model is compared with multilayer backpropagation network (MB...

Any proper operation could be translated as a constrained optimization problem inside a WWTP, whose nonlinear behavior renders its control problems quite attractive for performance of multivariable optimization–based control technique algorithms, such as NMPC. The main advantage of this control technique lies in its ability to handle model nonlinearity as well as various types of constraints on...
